At Follow the Leader Inc. we keep far FAR away from superstitious training and quack methodologies by staying firmly rooted in behavioural science. How do we do that? By making sure that we’re certified by leading industry professionals! At Follow the Leader inc. we believe that dog training should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age or experience. Using positive reinforcement, our instructors teach simple and effective techniques that bridge the gap between confused dogs and frustrated owners.

All too often we see beloved pets punished simply because their owners are unable to find the help and education they need. What people often interpret as stubbornness or disobedience from their pet is more often just a breakdown in communication. We try to help dog owners see the world from their dog’s point of view, and to better speak their language. With this newfound understanding, resentment and frustration will transform into mutual respect, love and companionship.

Our training classes will give you the basic skills you need in order to clearly communicate with your dog. We provide a fun, encouraging place in which to grow and learn as a dog owner. It is also a safe place for dogs to make mistakes, to learn at their own pace, and to exceed expectations.

The foundations are extremely important for puppies, and yes, we’ll cover them all in this class: Sit, down, stand, polite leash walking, coming when called, stay, leave it. We'll also devote plenty of time to puppy play, where we'll teach you all about healthy play, signs of stress, and dog body language!

Doggie Basics is designed for those slightly older dogs that are new to training and need some help with the basics. Learn all that helpful stuff like positions, walking on leash, coming when called, and so much more!

Next Steps is designed to apply the knowledge gained in our Puppy Pupils or Doggie Basics classes to real life situations.

Caroline Applebee holds a B.Sc. in Biology from McGill University with a specialization in Animal Behaviour and became Toronto’s first Board Certified Professional Dog Trainer in 2004 through the CCPDT.

Raising Rover’s popular Puppy Head Start program is designed to provide pups between 9-16 weeks with the best possible start in life. Whether you prefer a fun and supportive group class, a fully customized private training experience or self-study option, program emphasis is on proper approach to socialization, problem prevention and introduction to good manners. You’ll have the roadmap and expert coaching to raising a dog who is a joy to live with and able to go anywhere life may take you! Consider it a behaviour vaccine for your pup!

This unique program is aimed at levelling up those puppy foundations while specifically addressing the challenges of living with teenage dogs. Completely customized programs are available for general manners as well addressing more complex issues such as shy/fearful behaviour, food-toy guarding, reactivity (barking/lunging on leash and separation anxiety. And because not everyone wants to be a dog trainer or has the time needed to get results, programs may include a private tutoring option where I will work with your dog in their own environment and then teach you how to maintain the skills learned. Beautiful 6 month old golden Maple was held back from the litter for breeding but the Breeder changed her mind and we felt like we had won the lottery. What we quickly discovered was the fact she was not house-trained, would panic when left alone, wasn’t crazy about her crate and seemed to love our living room rug for all the wrong reasons. Within a few days our rugs were at the cleaners, the kitchen hardwood was curled and we were exhausted and discouraged. We seriously considered giving her back. Then in came Caroline who gave us a plan and gave us the tools and encouragement to make Maple a happy and well-behaved part of our family. We could not have been successful without her knowledge and caring.

When seeking out training programs, Caroline came highly recommended and working with her has been an incredibly positive experience. We found our first round of classes so valuable that we continued on with the Advanced Life Skills classes. Hi! I'm Jason, a dedicated, passionate dog enthusiast, As well as being a knowledgeable dog trainer and behaviourist, I LOVE MY JOB. I have owned powerful dominant breeds of dogs for more than 25 years and trained 1000s of others from tiny tea cups to 220 lb Mastiffs. I train puppies, and rehabilitate dogs with mild to severe behavioural issues. I have spent thousands of hours, in countless dog parks over the years training and studying dog behaviour and I have come to the conclusion that a dog is only as good as the time their owners devote to making them that way. An owners mind-set directly effects the energy of their dog. I'll help you understand more about that after our first meeting. I'll teach you a new way of thinking when it comes to creating a calm and obedient dog. Using my methods and techniques, we will create a positive training experience for both of you. Whatever issues you are having, I can help. No case is too difficult, I deal with them all. Here at Who's Training Who, all training is done one on one, with sessions being done in real life environments such as your home, neighbourhood, and dog parks.

This is for puppies 8 weeks to 4 months. It includes an initial 2 hour in home session, plus three 1 hour sessions every 2 weeks. You'll learn basic obedience, house breaking, crate introduction and how to properly introduce your pup to strangers. All training is done in your home and outside at various parks in the city.

This is for dogs 5 months to 10+ years. It includes an initial 2 hour in home session, plus three 1.5 hour sessions once every 2 weeks. For dogs who have difficulties walking on a leash, who display bad manners and need help with listening when distracted.

This is for dogs with severe behavioral issues, from aggression with other dogs, lunging, mouthing, fearful and extreme nervousness, separation anxiety and resource guarding issues. It includes two 2 hour in home sessions, plus two 1.5 hour sessions to be used over a 3 month period. Phone check ups and unlimited phone support during and after completion.
