High Park is home to a many cherry trees, called Sakura trees, that bloom in April or May - depending on weather. The beautiful white and pink cherry blossoms attract thousands of visitors to the park each year.

From wild forests to the Chinese gardens High Park has a truly genuine and beautiful vegetation - well taken care of by the city. Regardless of when you visit the gardens are always beautiful.

A walk along the Grenadier Pond on the west side of High Park will make you forget you are in the largest city in Canada. You will find ducks, geese and hiking trails by the lakeside. A popular destination by runners, hikers and families alike.

The park has a designated off-leash area for dogs and several paths where dogs are allowed to run free. While the dog park is not completely fenced in it is surrounded by natural borders such as thick bushes and trees.

The mini-zoo at High Park has llamas, buffalo, bison, deer, peacocks and a few other animals including cats and pigeons:) The zoo is open from 7am until dusk. Free admission.

Tennis courts, baseball diamonds and soccer fields are all present inside the park but many other sports can be played on the large grassy fields.

The Jamie Bell Adventure Playground is a large, unique play area designed in part by children. Make sure to include a visit to this adventure park this summer with your kids!

I've been to High Park many times but each time I bump into something new, discover yet another hidden corner or see a beautiful tree I never noticed before. Let me give you an idea just how large the park is: me and my two-year-old Golden Retreiver were zig-zagging through the park one day to take pictures but she got tired so I had to return with my camera two more times to take some more shots. Few other dogs have as much energy than young Goldens. Yup, that's how big it is.

If you really want to see the many faces of High Park you need to go in spring when nature is wide awake and everything is in full bloom, you also need to go in the fall when golden leaves cover the ground as far as the eye can see and you need to go in the winter to see just how beautiful ice and snow can be. Don't always come during the busiest times; High Park is most peaceful and relaxing early in the morning and after twilight. Here is a list of holidays in Canada 2023 to help you plan your visit.

Another beautiful park is located in nearby Brampton about a 40 minute drive away from High Park: Chinguacousy Park. This park has a small ski hill, a curling rink, snowtubing, a large splash pad and wading pool, beach volleball courts, a track and field stadium, a petting zoo, pony rides, long trails and a great playground. If you're ever nearby, set aside an afternoon to visit Chinguacousy Park - it's well worth it!

Riverdale Farm is a working farm located in Toronto's downtown Cabbagetown neighbourhood. Visitors to our 7.5 acre property will get a first-hand taste of farm life, from raising livestock (cows, pigs, sheep, goats and chickens) to the year-round handwork and craft programs in The Meeting House. The property features flower, vegetable and herb gardens, as well as wooded areas and ponds connected to the city's rich ravine system. We are a popular community meeting place for families from across Toronto and beyond.

Admission is FREE! Open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including on public holidays. 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The farm is wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly. Baby change tables are available in the Meeting House and the Simpson House washroom.


Riverdale Park West is adjacent to the Farm, and is a lovely picnic spot in the summer, with plenty of shade and a wading pool. To book a picnic table for your event or gathering, please contact 416-396-7378 for more information. During the winter, the Park offers some of the city’s best tobogganing hills. The Don River Valley Park to the east of the Farm provides access to the city’s ravine system, extending from Pottery Road into downtown Toronto.


As we're a working farm and not a petting zoo, feeding of the animals is not permitted. Direct interactions with livestock and animals must be supervised by Farm staff.


Dogs or pets of any kind (service animals exempt), bicycles, in-line skates, foot scooters, ride-on toys and vehicles are not permitted on the property.

Unplanned group or school visits may impact your group's experience at the Farm. We ask that you book ahead and discuss your visit with staff to ensure the best visit possible. Parking is limited to local City streets. Buses are able to pick up and drop off on Winchester St. To schedule a group or school visit to the Farm please contact farm@toronto.ca.

Riverdale Farm is located at 201 Winchester Street, Toronto, ON M4X 1B8. The nearest major intersection is Parliament St. and Carlton St.

From Line 1, go to College subway station, and then board streetcar number 506 Gerrard St eastbound to Parliament St. Get off and cross Parliament. Walk one traffic light north to Winchester St. Walk approximately 10 minutes east to the Farm.

From Line 2, go to Castle Frank subway station, and then board bus number 65 southbound. Get off on Parliament at Winchester St., cross Parliament, and walk approximately 10 minutes east to the Farm.

No matter which part of the city you're coming from head to Winchester St. Bike racks are available, but please remember, bikes are not allowed on the farm property.

The nearest major intersection is Parliament and Carlton. From Parliament and Carlton, drive north one traffic light, and then turn right onto Winchester St. Continue on Winchester until you reach the Farm. Street parking is available but limited. Please ensure you check city signage upon arrival and before leaving your vehicle.

Riverdale Farm hosts a daily farm demonstration, where the farmer presents a different animal to visitors in the Lower Francey Barn. Visitors are then free to ask questions. Check out the chalkboard at the entrance to Francey Barn to find out which animal the farmer will introduce on the day of your visit.

With over three (3) kilometres of trails there will always be something for you to see and enjoy. The Farm map highlights all of the key features waiting for you to discover.

The Francey Barn houses horses, cows, goats and sheep when they're not outside in the paddocks. Head over to the Pig and Poultry Barn and meet the animal residents.
