4worldlovers: Ernescliff College is a student residence and study centre for men on the University of Toronto’s downtown campus.

In its many functions, Ernescliff has helped countless individuals to see their studies, work, and family responsibilities as opportunities for personal development and conduits for societal impact. But most importantly, its family atmosphere has helped turn Ernescliff into a place that these young men can call home.

The get togethers helped me to be informed on current events and the snack room was a great time to joke with the others and unwind after a stressful day. The environment is one where you can work hard but also have fun along the way. I enjoyed my time at Ernescliff and encourage anyone interested to live there. You will not be disappointed!

Ernescliff was truly a home away from home; I have never met so many people who genuinely cared about you, despite having only met you. Ernescliff has a great study environment and offers outstanding spiritual, professional, and personal formation. It also hosts many fun activities such as movie nights, sports and different outings. As a fresh university student living in a city I was alien to, Ernescliff provided the support I much needed to be successful. I am happy and proud to say that I made life-long friends while living in Ernescliff and that my time in the residence shaped my life for the better.

The best thing about living in Ernescliff is the ability to have more time to do many things without also being isolated from the world. My last year of Graphic Design at George Brown was very intense. At Ernescliff, I was encouraged to work well and to take advantage of different social opportunities and activities at the residence to get a break from the business of school.

I was well entrenched in my Engineering Science program at UofT. The family life and study environment at Ernescliff helped expand my horizons while keeping me focussed on my studies. I also received excellent mentoring and can say that I've gained a number of great friends.

4worldlovers: This residence pays tribute to the Indigenous connection at York. The word Calumet itself translates to peace pipe. Each of the seven Houses in the residence are named after these Indigenous animals: Wolf, Bear, Loon, Eagle, Turtle and Fox. Calumet is a unique residence at York, completely suite style with six people to a suite. Socializing with others becomes very easy within each House of 22-44 students and the community becomes very close-knit.

I first want to welcome you to the vibrant community here at Calumet. I hope that while you are here you will grow to call Calumet your second home. Residence is where you are encouraged to be yourself and grow as a person.

As the RLC I oversee the residence community and assist you through your development at York. To help me with this are amazing student leaders called Dons. The Dons are here to help you transition into university life and become a strong and independent person, ready for the challenges that university can hold. Together we will work to ensure that Calumet is a safe and inclusive space.

As the year moves along there will be many opportunities to become involved in the residence and I highly encourage you to make the most of your time with us. I recommend that you look over the Residence Handbook and the Student Code of Rights and Responsibilities as they are key tools in ensuring that your transition into living in residence is a smooth one.

Finally, I hope that you find your time here in Calumet to be a rewarding and eye-opening experience that helps you discover your true potential.
