User FAQs

The fully-accessible garden park features special braille signage, raised planters, rose gardens, and a rock fountain surrounded by a pergola. It is a haven for flower connoisseurs, bird and butterfly watchers. Visitors can also enjoy spectacular views of Lake Ontario from the top of Scarborough Bluffs.

The park was originally part of a farm owned by Thomas McDonald West, who later divided it among his children. Many of the historic landscape improvements were undertaken by Rosetta's husband and her brother. In memory of Rosetta McClain, her husband donated a portion of the property to the city of Toronto in 1959.

The donated property, which was later conveyed to the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, combined with other properties to create a 7.5 hectare park. The park now offers visitors a glimpse into the past with the shell of an old pine house and the stunning view of the Scarborough Bluffs.

Visitors should be aware that there is no access to the water at this park and should stay behind fences and obey no trespassing signs due to the unstable bluffs. Additionally, dogs are not allowed in the park, except for service animals.

Facilities at the park can be available for permit, with rates dependent on facility rating and group category. Visitors can use the Facility Classifications and Rating Criteria to determine which amenities might be available. It is recommended to check prior to your visit to ensure the facility can meet your needs.
